Angela Curry (2016-2017 Mentor)
Ms. Angela Curry is a native of Houston, Texas. She graduated from DeBakey High School for Health Professions then earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, with a minor in Chemistry, from Huston-Tillotson University in Austin, Texas. She then went on to earn a Master of Science degree in Environmental Toxicology from Texas Southern University.
Ms. Curry first professional job upon graduation was consulting as an Environmental Scientist where she was assigned to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Superfund Technical Assessment and Response Team (also known as the START Team). The START Team provided technical assistance to the EPA’s emergency response prevention and preparedness activities related to natural disasters, man-made incidents, technological hazards, and ESPECIALLY accidental chemical or hazardous material releases. She also served as an adjunct Environmental Science Instructor at the Art Institute of Houston.
Currently Ms. Curry works as a Senior Toxicologist at the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality where she serves as a resource for staff regarding human health and chemical risk assessments. This includes:
Ms. Curry is a member of the Society of Toxicology, and the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry, she co-authored publications that appeared in two scientific journals, and is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.
